Pro-Mix
This Anvil Studio accessory allows
you to:
load third-party VST and VST-Instrument effects,
use soundcards with ASIO drivers,
edit values of any MIDI controllers such as Modulation, Tempo, Pan position, Sustain, and Volume over time,
edit Audio Pan and Volume controls over time,
edit values of VST parameters over time,
use Automation to capture the position of faders and VST dials as you play / mix the song,
and then use those fader changes every time the song is played.
For example, you could use it to:
Edit a song's tempo map. This lets you add expression to your
song by causing different passages to play back at different tempos.
gradually increase the volume of a track at the start of a song,
creating the effect of moving faders,
gradually decrease the volume of a track at the end of a song,
gradually shift the Panpot (left-to-right stereo balance) of
a MIDI or Audio track.
control modulation effects for over a MIDI guitar track,
All changes made with this accessory are non-destructive, that is, they
do not modify the original sound. This means you can experiment,
and then get back to the original sound if you don't like the change.
This accessory adds the following to Anvil Studio's user interface:
View / Mixer Automation menu,
View / Track Automation menu,
MIDI Effects note properties popup menu.
The Auto Play, Auto Write, Auto Touch, and Auto Latch dropdown.
You can use this screen to adjust faders, VST parameters, and other audio
and MIDI parameters automatically while a song is playing, just like using mixing console that remembers your changes.
Change the Auto Play field near the top of the screen to one of these values:
Auto Off   -   plays the song without using any saved control values, so you can hear how the song sounds in its raw form.
Auto Play   -   plays the song using saved automation values.
Auto Write   -   records all changes to controller sliders and dials while playing the song.
When the song stops in this mode, it automatically changes to Auto Touch mode so you will not accidentally overwrite existing saved data.
Auto Touch   -   is the same as Auto Write mode, but it starts recording changes to parameters as soon as the mouse button goes down on a control, and stops recording
the values as soon as the mouse button is released.
Auto Latch   -   is the same as Auto Touch mode, but once it starts recording controller changes, it continues to
until the song is stopped.
The Mixer Automation menu shows the Mixer Automation screen,
as shown in the sample screen below.
Use this screen to edit up to 6 MIDI or Audio controls over time.
For example, you can edit the Volume for 6 different tracks,
or you could edit the volume and Pan for 3 different tracks.
For Audio tracks, the controllers you can edit are Volume and Pan (left-to-right balance).
For Instrument and Rhythm tracks, you can edit the value of any MIDI
controller supported by your Synthesizer, Sound Module, or Sound Card,
including:
Modulation, Breath, DX7 After Touch, Foot, Portamento Time, Data Slider,
Channel Volume, Balance, Panpot, Expression, Sustain, Portamento On/Off,
Sostenuto, Soft Pedal, Legato, Hold2, Harmonic Content, Release Time,
Attack Time, Brightness, Portamento, Tremolo Depth, Chorus Depth,
Detune Depth, Phaser Depth.
You alter the value of the control by dragging the mouse over the window,
using either the free-form pencil tool, or the straight-line tool.
You can see the entire song at the same time,
or use the zoom control for high-resolution editing.
The accessory also adds a controller window to the Composer screen,
allowing you to edit one sound effect over time while viewing a
single track's notes or audio wave, as shown in the following sample screen.
The accessory also adds the MIDI Effects... to the Note Properties pop-up menu.
When selected, it lets you edit MIDI Controller values for the duration of a single note,
as in the following example:
